Clay Slogan Baubles

Adding a touch of home made decorations makes your Christmas so personal. It's not the same as popping to the shop and covering your home in mass produced decor. It's fun to have something a little different that no one else would have!

That's why I decided to make these clay slogan baubles. They're fun, and you can make them to say anything you want.

YOU WILL NEED:

White air dry clay
Rolling pin
Twine
Metal letter marking punches
Cookie cutter
Tooth pick
Detail paint brush
Copper liquid leaf
Damp cloth

After kneading your clay to make it more pliable, roll it out with a rolling pin until they're about 5mm thick. Use your cookie cutter to cut them into any shape you want, I kept it simple with a circle.

Use your metal letter marking punches, push them into the clay to create your slogans. It'll be easier for you if you decide on a few slogans before you start, just so you have more time to work with your clay and it doesn't dry out.

Pop a hole in the top with your toothpick and leave them to dry overnight.

The next day, paint your letters with copper liquid leaf. Don't worry, you don't have to be perfectly neat, but try to keep it as neat as possible, it'll make the clean up easier.

Liquid leaf dries super fast, so as soon as you've finished painting them, take your damp cloth and wipe off any excess.

The all you need to do is add your twine and tie it in a loop to hang on your tree!

They're so pretty, each one comes out slightly differently and they make amazing gifts or even gift tags! My best friend is in love with the larger one I made, so she's taking that one home.

I hope this idea helps you to get creative this Christmas.
