Q&A

I've had this blog for a few months now, but I realised I've never really told you guys much about me! So, I thought I'd try something different for today's post and answer a few questions so you guys can get to know me a little better.

WHAT'S YOUR REAL NAME?

I understand why it might be confusing to call my blog Janie Day if that isn't my actual name, but I'll explain: my full name is Abbie Jane Day, my mum loved the name Abbie and my dad loved Janie, so they settled on Abbie Jane. Not that it mattered, my dad has always called me Janie. I know I'm in real trouble if he ever calls me Abbie! I love my little nickname so much I even have it tattooed inside my left wrist (my dad and I are both left handed) so it was the first thing I thought of when I was trying to find a name for my blog.

DID YOU GO TO UNIVERSITY?

No, unless the 'university of life' counts? It just wasn't something I've ever wanted to do. I completed a fair few college courses, I've never really given university any consideration. After finding a real passion with beauty, I've gone to college three more times after completing a photography course as a teen. Clearly I love creative learning! I've never been super academic.

HOW DID YOU & ALEX MEET?

The whole story is honestly so long winded but it took a lot of friends of friends before we met. We were friends for a few months but it didn't take long for us to grow close. 14th August marks 8 years of us, he makes me smile each and every day. I'm so lucky to have him.

WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT BLOGGING?

I love that it's mine, and mine alone. I can write about whatever takes my fancy and there are no restrictions, no expectations and it's completely up to me.

WHAT CAMERA DO YOU USE?

I use a Nikon D3200

WHO TAKES YOUR PHOTOS?

If it's not me with a sneaky camera remote or self timer, it's my brother Jack. He has always been a massive help when it comes to shooting photos and he understands exactly what I mean when I try to describe what I need. We are defiantly cut from the same cloth and I am forever grateful for his help.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE?

This always feels like a real tricky question to answer. It honestly depends entirely on what mood I'm in that day! I can swing between cute and preppy to retro rockabilly and even as far as a touch of alternative fashion. It just totally depends! I think style is totally fluid and you shouldn't try to force yourself into one set group, have fun with it! I honestly just like what I like.

IF YOU COULD VISIT ANY ONE PLACE, WHERE WOULD IT BE?

Right now I'm trying to convince Alex that a trip to Boston would be dreamy. I'd love to go one October, we could head to a Patriots game and then to Salem for a spooky day out. I love the history of  New England and its aesthetic as a whole. I've been drawn to it since I was young, I need to go - I'll of course let you know if I manage to convince him.

WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE THING IN YOUR HOME?

Honestly? Our dining table. We decided to build our very own table as the space was so big and we didn't want to have the wrong size table in the gap. We built it in the run up to our first Christmas here and while it now has some wear and tear (like the chew marks along the bottom beam from the pugs, or tiny holes from a fork my eldest nephew enjoyed stabbing the table top with) I think it adds more character, and I adore that it's unique to us.

WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE SEASON?

Autumn, without a doubt. I love the crisp air, having a cold nose but being warm enough to take the dogs for a walk in the park, rain on my windows while I'm snuggled up watching a Tim Burton movie, and of course, Halloween. Autumn is the season my soul wakes up, I just adore every-single-ting about it.
