Dolly & Doug's Birthday Pupcakes

by - March 03, 2020

I can't believe my little Pug-Butts are 4! It feels like they've been in our lives forever, but at the same time, those 4 years have flown by! I'm such a ridiculous Pug-mum, they dress up for Halloween, have their own 'bedroom' and all the toys they could ever need. So of course I also make them Pupcakes for their birthday! Their favourite treat is peanut butter, so I've created a dog friendly cupcake recipe and wanted to share it with all the other crazy dog parents out there!

Ingredients:

2 tbsp peanut butter- just make sure it doesn't contain Xylitol
2 tbsp oil
1 medium banana - mashed
2 tbsp honey
60g plain flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp baking powder

For The Frosting:

60g cream cheese
2 tbsp peanut butter

Method:

Preheat your oven to 200°C and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.

In a mixer, combine your peanut butter, oil, honey and mashed banana. Once they're thoroughly combined, add the flour, baking soda and baking powder. Mix until combined. Fill your cupcake liners 2/3 full and bake in your oven for 10-20 minutes or until golden brown.

Remove your pupcakes from the oven and leave to cool completely before you begin frosting!

While your cakes are cooling, mix together your peanut butter and cream cheese to create a frosting. If you'd like it slightly thicker, add a little more peanut butter.

You can totally skip this step but I think topping the cakes with a cute doggy treat totally finishes them off!

Doug and Dolly always love their birthday treat! I love giving them something extra special just for today and is it really a birthday without a cake?! I think not! I hope your fur-babies enjoy these goodies just as much as mine!
